Did you know that Jonesboro, GA is the fictional setting for "Tara" in Margaret Michell's book "Gone With the Wind"?  As a matter of fact, the Mitchell family designated Jonesboro/Clayton County as the official home of "Gone With the Wind" in 1969.  In addition to that title, Jonesboro is also the county seat of Clayton County.  The city was originally named "Jonesborough" and during the Civil War served as the battleground for the final skirmish of the Atlanta Campaign.

Visitors to this area will find plenty of things to go, see and do during their stay here.  Some of these include The Road to Tara Museum, The Georgia State Archives, The National Archives SE Region, Reynolds Nature Preserve, Newman Wetlands Center, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Fun Junction USA and Clayton County International Park.  There is even something for golf and water sports enthusiasts in the Lake Spivey community located in Jonesboro.

The fine arts are alive and well in Clayton County, GA.  Spivey Hall is a world-class concert hall located on the campus of Clayton State University that hosts a wide variety of musical performances.  Clayton County Performing Arts Center is known as one the most unique performing arts venues in the U.S.  Arts Clayton supports local artists by offering monthly exhibits of local talent, artists workshops and master classes, and a gift shop.

Piano Tuning in Statham, GA 770.787.4890

Statham, GA

The area now known as Statham, GA saw its first white settlers in 1784 who eventually purchased land from Creek and Cherokee Indians for 14 pounds of beads and was originally given the name "Beadland".  The town Statham was incorporated in 1892 and named after the owner of the only building (the Post Office), M.J.C. Statham.  From that point in time, Statham grew into a bustling commercial hub by 1904 and enjoyed several years of economic prosperity until the Great Depression hit in 1929.

Now Statham has gained great popularity as a bedroom community to Athens and to a lesser degree, Atlanta.  Athens, by the way, was recently named by CNN as one of the "Best Places to Retire in 2012".

If you ever find yourself in or passing through Statham and have some time on your hands, be sure to visit the town's three antique boutiques; Second Hand Rose Antique and Marketplace, Along the Line Antiques and Factory Antique Mall.  And if you're hungry, Michaels Pizza and Old House Restaurant are nearby to satisfy your appetite as well providing a place to take a load off your feet for a while.

One of the most popular recent attractions to this area is The Georgia Club.  The Georgia Club is one of Georgia's premier golf communities that boasts a 27 hole Chancellor's Course, designed by Denis Griffiths, a 37,500 square foot Clubhouse, clay tennis courts, a fitness center and a swimming park.

Pianos In Tune, LLC is proud to offer Statham competent and comprehensive piano tuning, maintenance and repair services.  We are located just a short drive south and frequent this area on a regular basis.  Also, owner Richard Bazemore, RPT, is one of the very few piano tuners servicing this area that can claim to have earned the title “Registered Piano Technician” with the Piano Technicians Guild.  A Registered Piano Technician (RPT) is a member of  The Piano Technicians Guild (a non-profit organization of piano technicians) who has demonstrated competence by passing a series of three rigorous examinations on the maintenance, repair and tuning of pianos.

Piano Tuning in Watkinsville, GA 770.787.4890

Watkinsville, GA is both the largest city and county seat of Oconee County.    It was originally the seat of Clark County until Athens laid claim to that title in 1872.  This action angered and motivated the locals to vote to create a new county named after the Oconee River which formed its easternmost border so that Watkinsville could once again enjoy the status of being a county seat town.

This charming city retains a small town atmosphere and is located only minutes south of Athens and about an hour east of Atlanta.  Visitors can take a step back in time by visiting places such as the Elder Mill Covered Bridge, the historic Eagle Tavern, the William Daniel House and Ashford Manor.

In the early 1990’s Watkinsville was revitalized when it applied for and received a Transportation Enhancement Project grant that reworked and beautified its downtown business area, adding brick sidewalks, planters, simulated antique lamp posts, benches, new curbing and much needed landscaping.  Now, this area is known as Town Center and is home to Ashford Manor and their “Concerts on the Lawn”, the historic Haygood House, and restaurants such as “Girasoles”, “Chops and Hops” and “Mirko Pasta”.

There are so many art attractions in Watkinsville and Oconee County that this area has become affectionately known as “The Artland of Georgia”.  Art aficionados can enjoy a wide variety of workshops and galleries that range from pottery and paintings to hand blown glass.  Art attractions in the area include the Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation, The Chappelle Gallery, The Farmington Depot Art Gallery, Greenbriar Pottery, R Woods Studio and Paint With Class.

Pianos In Tune, LLC is proud to offer the entire Watkinsville/Oconee County area competent and comprehensive piano tuning, maintenance and repair services.  We are located just a short drive southwest and frequent this area on a regular basis.  Also, owner Richard Bazemore, RPT, is one of the very few piano tuners servicing this area that can claim to have earned the title “Registered Piano Technician” with the Piano Technicians Guild.
